FOX HUB invites teens to join the international Hackathon on HealthTech and UrbanTech
FoxHack Teenagers ’Baltic Online Hackathon will take place online on January 21, 22 and 23, organized by FOX HUB Startup Accelerator for Teenagers with the support of Exupery International School in Riga. Hackathon focus is on Health Care, Public Health, Urban and Environment areas. Young people aged 12 to 19, are invited to apply until January 20 by filling the registration form at www.foxhub.lv. Event language: English.
This is already the second hackathon for teenagers that FOX HUB is launching during the beginning of the season 2022. Deep dive sessions on health and urban technologies are planned during the hackathon, as well as practical classes in the development of IT projects and teamwork. It is planned that in 3 days the participants will create a working prototype for a future IT product, responding to actual challenges in the life areas mentioned.
In the first FOXHack hackathon at the end of last year, teenagers created 9 prototypes of IT solutions in the fields of education and art technology. A team of 9th grade students from Latvia, named Docifasc, in response to the challenge of the Riga International Biennale of Contemporary Art (RIBOCA), created a working chat bot that will interest and educate RIBOCA visitors about contemporary art in the future. Together with Docifasc, the winners were the Spotloc project, a mobile application for creating and managing cultural events; and the Clubery mobile app for planning students’ extracurricular activities.
After both hackathons, the authors of the most promising projects will take part in the international FOX HUB acceleration program, where they will develop their ideas and prototypes for finished IT products for 4 months. Finally, in the spring of 2022, their work will be evaluated by professionals and potential investors.
” FOX HUB is a non-profit project dedicated to teenagers, and participation in all events is free of charge. Our mission is not only to actively involve teenagers in IT learning and entrepreneurship, but also to develop the youth IT community in Latvia,” says FOX HUB project manager Tania Tumanov.
Students can apply for participation in the FoxHack Teenagers ’Baltic Online Hackathon individually or in teams of 3-6 people, with or without a teacher. IT experience is not required, but it is desirable that at least 2 team members have an idea of what programming is. The application continues until January 20 on the project website www.foxhub.lv.
